Robert Warnock, Ed Curnow and Simon White have each been named for their first senior games of 2013 for Carlton, against West Coast at Patersons Stadium on Saturday night.

Warnock has been named as an obvious replacement for ruckman Matthew Kreuzer, who broke his thumb in the opening quarter of last Saturday night’s Geelong match at Etihad Stadium. Curnow and White have also been named after creditable showings at reserve grade level.

Marcus Davies, who twinged a hamstring against the Cats, could not be considered, while last weekend’s first-gamer Dylan Buckley returns to the Northern Blues having had a taste of senior League footy.

Carlton Assistant John Barker said Warnock was deserving of his call-up.

“Robbie Warnock’s been playing really good footy and he’s been neck and neck with ‘Kreuze’ anyway,” Barker said.

“He’s played well against Werribee and again against Bendigo. He gets a great opportunity on a ground he’s played a lot of footy at.”

Barker described Curnow’s hard running as a real feature of his lead-up performances for the Northern Blues, and added that Simon White, in the more customary defensive role, had also impressed at that level.
