The Northern Blues will play their final home game of the season at Preston City Oval on Saturday when they take on ladder leaders Box Hill.

The Blues will be out to bounce back from last week’s loss to Sandringham. Coach Luke Webster says he’ll be looking for the players to maintain consistency over four quarters this week.

“Last weekend I thought we started really well against Sandringham, we came out with some good energy and a positive mindset, be then we went away from the things we wanted to achieve in the second quarter,” Webster said.

“In the second half, our work rate and consistency of ball movement cost us, so this week against Box Hill we’ll be looking to improve and maintain that right attitude and mindset.”

Playing in the VFL, Carlton’s Troy Menzel found plenty of the football and pushed his case for a recall to the senior team. While young defender Cameron Giles made his long-awaited return from injury, playing half a game with the development side.

“It was a great result for Cameron and the club to get him back to playing some good footy,” Webster said.

“He played really well and it was a good step forward for him, so if he can continue to improve then hopefully we will be able to look at him for senior selection before the end of the year.”
