OVERVIEW
Ciaran Sheehan arrived at Visy Park after being drafted by the Blues as an International Selection (with pick No. 60 overall) in the 2014 Rookie Draft.

The 23-year-old Gaelic footballer joined Carlton from County Cork in Ireland, where he twice represented his country in the International Rules series against Australia.

After just 14 games for the Northern Blues in the VFL, Sheehan earned the call-up to make his debut in the Navy Blue in Carlton's Round 20 match against the Gold Coast.

The Irishman held his place in the side for Carlton's remaining matches of 2014, finishing the year with four AFL games under his belt.

In topping off an outstanding debut year, Sheehan took out the newly created Chris Judd Development Academy Award and he was named Carlton’s Best First Year Player.

HE SAID IT
"It's an amazing deck! The atmosphere and everthing was phonomenal - and it's just great to be a part of it running out with those guys, putting your body on the line and hoping for the best result."

- Sheehan speaking after Carlton's Round 23 draw with Essendon - the first time the Irishman had played at the MCG.

THEY SAID IT
"Ciaran is the one, out of all our first year guys, who has played the most amount of footy. He started the year learning to play as a forward, and then swung around and learned to play as a backman, and he has adapted to that really well. One of his biggest assets is his speed - and he's defending the ball really well and also makes good decisions once he gets his hands on the footy."

- Northern Blues coach Luke Webster speaking about Sheehan.

SEASON HIGHLIGHT
