AFLW clubs: Carlton
Carlton debut: Round 4, 2019
Recruited from: Sandringham Dragons (VIC)
Abbie McKay has emerged as one of Carlton’s key midfielders in recent years, emerging from a 2020 campaign where she didn’t feature at AFLW level to have three consistent seasons in Navy Blue.
After debuting in 2019, McKay had to wait to get her chance again but showed the impact of hard work and dedication to her craft, missing just one game through injury in 2021 and the two 2022 seasons.
Her standing at the Club was demonstrated when she finished as a narrow runner-up to Mimi Hill in the Carlton Best and Fairest count for season seven.
Draft history: 2018 NAB AFLW Draft 2nd round (father-daughter) selection, No.16 overall.
