BYRNE-ING Blue.

Talor Byrne is now a Carlton player, with the Blues selecting the youngster with pick No.45 in the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft.

An exciting attacking prospect, the Blues have welcomed a player regarded for his tenacity and polish with his left foot.

Putting himself on the map with a five-goal haul against Vic Metro in the national championships, Byrne couldn’t have done much more in a 2025 campaign which also included taking out the GWV Rebels best and fairest.

Named in the Coates Talent League Team of the Year, Byrne has game-breaking traits, with his craft around goals combined with a vertical leap that makes him a headache for opposition defences.

That was on display at the draft combine, finishing in the top 10 in the running vertical jump, while his commitment to the defensive side of the game a key feature, as is his selflessness in the attacking half.

It’s the perfect belated birthday present for Byrne, with the Koroit local celebrating his 18th birthday just last week.

Arriving at IKON Park alongside fellow Vic Country product Harry Dean, Byrne brings some potential flair and firepower to the Blues’ attacking mix, while also spending time in the midfield for the GWV Rebels.

Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said Byrne’s on-field prowess and skillset were great fits for the Club.

“We’re really happy we’ve been able to welcome Talor to the football club,” Austin said.

“We’ve made no secret that we’ve been looking to complement our list this off-season with some forward craft, and Talor fits that bill. He’s someone that we identified as a prospect with some really promising traits in the forward half, so we’re delighted to bring him to Carlton.

“Talor is really committed to his football and doesn’t know any other way than giving his absolute all. He’s got some real spark in the forward half, he can play above his height and he’s the kind of player that makes things happen in the forward half.

“The game he played against Vic Metro in the championships was a really great indication of what Talor can do, and his consistency for the Rebels in the Coates Talent League is something we saw as really favourable.

“We think Talor is going to be a great fit for our group and we’re excited to see him in the Navy Blue.”
