Matthew Kreuzer and Michael Jamison were the tour guides for Aussie Formula One star, Daniel Ricciardo, when he visited Visy Park today.

Daniel took the opportunity to visit the Carlton Football Club while in Melbourne for this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park.

The Carlton stars showed Daniel around the facilities at Visy Park before heading onto the ground for some kick to kick and an impromptu goalkicking exhibition in front of the huge media contingent in Melbourne to cover the Grand Prix. For many of the international media representatives it was their first encounter with AFL and an experience they all enjoyed.

The Perth-born Ricciardo enjoyed his kick with the two Carlton players and said he loved having a kick in the backyard when he was growing up.

The Young Australian Formula One driver will compete in his first home Grand Prix this weekend and for the first time, two Australians will line up on a F1 grid, with Mark Webber looking for his first win in Melbourne.

Following the kick on Visy Park, Kreuzer and Jamison presented the Aussie driving ace with his own Carlton guernsey. Daniel then spent another hour with various media outlets before he was able to leave Visy Park.

The media frenzy was an eye opener for the Carlton players who enjoyed the opportunity to meet the one of the Grand Prix stars.

“It was great to meet Daniel and I hope to get to the track later in the week,” Kreuzer said, admitting it won’t be for the race on Sunday as he will be busy playing in Carlton’s NAB Cup match against North Melbourne at Visy Park.

“I was certainly surprised at the number of media representatives here today. I know AFL is huge in Melbourne but there Formula One guys are certainly in the media spotlight,” added Kreuzer.
