Carlton has appointed midfielder Marc Murphy as the Club’s new captain.

The former John Nicholls medallist replaces Chris Judd, who stood down as captain at the end of last season, after five years leading the Blues.

Respected midfielders, Andrew Carrazzo and Kade Simpson have been named dual vice-captains.

Marc has been a highly regarded leader at the Carlton football Club for a number of years and a member of the Blues leadership group since 2007.

The 25 year old was named acting captain after Judd was forced to miss four matches in 2012 due to suspension.

The former number one draft pick has played 142 games for Carlton since making his debut in Round 1 vs Melbourne, 2006.

Although forced to miss seven matches in 2012, Marc finished fifth in Carlton’s Best and Fairest, an award he won in 2011.

He was also named All-Australian in 2011 along with the AFLCA Player of the Year.
