Carlton's Mitch Robinson admits he was seeking redemption when he ran out against Richmond at the MCG.

After spending a week in the VFL, the 24-year-old was recalled for Saturday's clash.

The match began with a disappointing opening quarter, which saw the Tigers score some easy goals and establish a 30-point lead.

But it wasn't long before the Blues lifted, and Robinson's trademark hardness came to the fore.

"We didn't give up," Robinson said. "We came back in the second quarter and managed to turn the game around. It was a great team effort."

The Carlton fightback saw the margin cut to just five-points by the half-time break.

Robinson says his team was determined to show supporters what they're made of.

"We drew a line in the sand and said that we wanted to get a bit of respect back from the fans.

"We came, tackled hard, did all the things that we needed to – and got a win."

At the final siren it was Carlton 16.10.(106) to Richmond 14.12.(96).

Robinson finished with 25 disposals, nine marks, five tackles and a goal – earning praise from coach Mick Malthouse.

"He was very good Robbo," Malthouse said. "He was nice and hard at it."
