Carlton's Jarrad Waite has been nominated for the AFL's Mark of the Year, after taking a big grab in Saturday night's clash with Essendon at the MCG.

Waite leapt over the top of Bomber's forward Michael Hurley, to take a big defensive mark in the dying minutes of the final quarter.

It's the second week in a row that Waite has played on Carlton's backline, the 30-year-old joining Lachie Henderson as another "swingman" for the Blues.

Waite is the fourth Carlton player to be nominated for Mark Of The Year in 2013 - Jeff Garlett was nominated in Round 5, Levi Casboult was nominated in Round 12 and Michael Jamison was nominated in Round 15.
