Two come-from-behind wins in successive weeks have bred a strong belief within the Carlton playing group, according to Blues midfielder Ed Curnow.
Speaking on Crocmedia’s Sportsday program on Monday night, Curnow described Sunday’s 20-point Elimination Final win over Richmond as the most ‘exciting’ experience of his 50-game career.
“I’ve never heard anything that loud at a game before… it was quite an amazing atmosphere at the start of the game,” Curnow said.
“It really was an amazing spectacle and to be a part of a game like that was an absolute privilege”
The 23-year-old said the Blues remained focused on the job at hand throughout Sunday’s encounter, even when faced with a 32-point deficit early in the third term.
“It was pretty calm at half-time; we spoke about a few things that we probably weren’t doing well and pretty simply Richmond were working harder,” Curnow said.
“I think in the last two weeks we have shown we have a real strong belief in each other and it’s a great feeling winning games from behind.”
Curnow praised the performance of Chris Judd, who led the charge in the Blues' turnaround in his first game back from a knee injury.
“I thought it was amazing,” Curnow said.
“He’s a superstar (Judd), you can never really question him. Even during the week I was watching him at training and I thought ‘Is he good to go here?’, but he just came out running well and was full of class.
“We’re very fortunate to have him at our football club and we are very lucky to be able to play with him.”
Speaking about his own role, Curnow said he was unsure if he would again be given the tagging job on Swans star Dan Hannebery.
“I’ll wait and see. Knowing Mick, he might change my role or he might not; that will be up to match committee during the week, ” Curnow said.
“We haven’t really looked at the match-ups yet, but obviously they are a great team and they play a great brand of finals football.
"It will be very exciting for us to go up there and challenge ourselves against one of the better teams in the competition.”
