Hyundai extends Carlton partnership

The long-standing partnership between Hyundai and the Carlton Football Club will continue, after the car company extended its Joint Major Partnership with the Club for a further four years.

The occasion was celebrated today at Visy Park, and coincided with the arrival of new star recruit Dale ‘Daisy’ Thomas, who has joined the Blues on a 4-year contract.

The Carlton Football Club and Hyundai Motor Company have created an enduring partnership based on shared values of inclusiveness, fairness, belonging and a strong commitment to their supporters. The association commenced in 1995 and in that same year Carlton won its 16th AFL Premiership.

Carlton CEO Greg Swann says the partnership with Hyundai represents the alignment of two iconic brands.

“Hyundai has long been a loyal supporter of the Carlton Football Club, and we are delighted that our relationship will continue,” Swann said.

“We are proud to be associated with Hyundai. As their brand continues to grow, so does ours, and it is only fitting that they have re-signed on the eve of our 150th year celebrations.”

Hyundai’s Chief Operating Officer John Elsworth says the relationship has been a successful one for both Carlton and Hyundai.

Since signing on with Carlton, Hyundai has almost tripled its annual sales and won numerous awards from the motoring media, the automotive industry and consumers. Today the company is recognised as the fastest growing automotive brand globally, and ranks fourth in Australia for total car sales.

“At Hyundai we take our sponsorships and partnerships seriously” Mr Elsworth said.  

“The Hyundai partnership with Carlton will now run through to 22 years. This signing is another testament to our loyalty and commitment, not only to our customers, but to our business and brand partners as well.”

The partnership will continue to see the Hyundai logo proudly adorn the front of Carlton’s home guernsey and the back of the away guernsey, along with extensive on-field brand representation.
