Two talented draft prospects will train with the Blues this week, to find out what life at a football club is really like.

17-year-olds Jaden McGrath and Jermaine Miller-Lewis are members of the level two AIS-AFL Academy. They’re training with Carlton as part of their under-18 season.

McGrath hails from Kerang and is playing for the Bendigo TAC Cup team, while Miller-Lewis is from Western Australia and plays for South Fremantle.

Carlton’s recruiting manager Wayne Hughes says it will be a terrific experience for the pair.

“It’s part of the learning process for the younger players coming through,” Hughes said.

“It depends on their physical attributes as to what they can participate in – obviously we’re in our second week back and going flat out. But it’s also a great chance for them to find out what it will be like if they are lucky enough to be drafted one day.”

Unfortunately for Miller-Lewis he’s carrying an injury and will only able to participate in limited activities. However, McGrath took part in Monday’s training session and Hughes says the small midfielder impressed.

“Aerobically he's very good,” Hughes said.

“He was able to keep up with our better midfielders from a running point of view, so it’s been a great day for him.”
