There’s mixed news for the Blues on the injury front ahead of Carlton’s opening NAB Challenge match against the Kangaroos.

Swingman Lachie Henderson is back running this week after having a procedure on his ITB. He’s on track to be ready to go in Round 1.

Good news also for Chris Judd who had surgery on his Achilles this week. The surgery has gone well and Judd should return to training within a fortnight.

But there’s been a setback for new recruit Sam Docherty.

Carlton’s GM – Football Operations Andrew McKay says Docherty has had surgery after being hampered by a quad tendon.

“It wasn’t improving at the rate we would like, so he went in to have surgery a couple of days ago,” McKay said.

“They found some floating bodies behind his kneecap, so they removed those, and the surgeon believes that was what was causing the pain rather than the quad tendon.

“He’ll be back playing in four or five weeks. “

Meanwhile, despite not being named to play in Saturday’s clash, Matthew Kreuzer is progressing well and is expected to get a couple of games under his belt before the season begins.
