Carlton defender Andrew Walker says Saturday night's three-point win over West Coast was a match that he's proud to have been a part of.

Speaking to SEN, Walker praised the efforts of Carlton's junior players in particular.

"It was a fantastic win, one of the better ones I've been involved in," Walker said.

"I think it showed a lot of courage by the boys and some off those younger guys like Casboult and Menzel – it's really good to see the development of those guys."

The Blues were 24-points down at the 12-minute mark of the final term, but they managed to kick five goals before the final siren to seal their victory.

It was a courageous effort, showcasing a united team that banded together when it mattered the most.

"It's just a really good show of character by the boys to fight back," Walker said.

"We've done it before – I look back at last year when we went over to Adelaide and played Port Adelaide, we had a really good fight–back over there.

"So we've got it in us to over-run sides, and I think the fitness of the guys really showed.

"I just think that we took a really good step in the right direction in terms of being able to come over the top of a side (West Coast) who really are fantastic."
