Blaine Johnson will make his debut for Carlton in Sunday night’s blockbuster against Collingwood at the MCG.

The 18-year-old was recruited to the Blues through last year’s rookie draft, and was upgraded to Carlton’s primary list last month when Heath Scotland hung up his boots.

Director of development and coaching Rob Wiley says Johnson has earned his opportunity.

“He’s (Johnson’s) a half-forward flanker that’s very hard at the football and has great defensive qualities,” Wiley said.

“He’s played really consistent football in the VFL, so certainly he’s ready to go."

The Blues also regain captain Marc Murphy who was a late withdrawal against the Giants with a tight hamstring.

Dennis Armfield and Jarrad Waite have been omitted, but both have been named as emergencies along with Andrew McInnes.
