Sticking together, taking responsibility and working hard – that’s the key for the Blues according to Chris Judd.
The dual Brownlow medallist spoke to SEN on Saturday after Carlton's disappointing loss to Collingwood, saying there’s “no doubt” coach Michael Malthouse was let down by the playing group on Friday night.
“It was a very disappointing night for our club, especially on such an historic occasion for Mick," Judd said.
“We know we need to do better and it’s not acceptable for our fans to put up with that – we're working hard to try and rectify it."
Heavy scrutiny has been placed on experienced players, but Judd believes there’s no deficiency of leadership on the ground, saying it shouldn’t be up to a few players to stand up.
“As an entire playing group we need to accept responsibility and not be looking for one, two or three people to drag us out of the muck," he said.
“We need everyone on our list really white-knuckling to try and improve and contribute as much as they can – when that starts happening we’ll see some growth."
Although the midfielder says his team needs to work harder, have more intensity and use the ball better, the 31-year-old believes they have a bright future.
“This group of players can be at the core of a successful Carlton team down the track,” he said.
Carlton play the winless Brisbane Lions this week on Mother’s Day at Etihad Stadium.
