Carlton enjoyed a win in this tight game over the mid-ranked Crows, but owe a lot to the performances of Kouta with 22 possessions and 9 marks, and the unheralded Matt Clape who would kick an awesome 7 goals from the forward pocket and flank. This would be the first time a Blue would kick 7 against the Crows, a feat only matched in 10 years of footy since by Brendan Fevola (2004). On this day, Clape could do no wrong, continually finding himself at the right spot at the right time, as the Blues pulled away to win by 5 goals.

Crow Mark Ricciuto would demonstrate his power over the Blues - experienced for the next decade or so - by remaining untackleable to us and also slotting a nice 5 goals. What a pity the Draft stopped our recruiting runs into his home state and stopped us snapping up 'the Roo'.
