Over the next two weeks, as the 2015 AFL Trade Period gets underway, we’ll count down Carlton’s top ten trades over the past 30 years.

Which stars reinvigorated their careers donning the navy blue? And who made Carlton their second home?

Coming in at number 10: Andrejs Everitt.

The Trade: In 2013 the Blues traded pick number 32 to Sydney for pick 39 (Cameron Giles) and Everitt. Sydney selected George Hewett with pick 32 in the National Draft – he’s yet to debut for the Swans.

In the dying stages of the 2013 trade period, the paperwork was completed just in time for Andrejs Everitt to swap red and white for navy blue.

It was Everitt’s third move in seven years, having already played 36 games for the Bulldogs and 42 games for the Swans between 2007 and 2013.

Carlton’s Head of Football Andrew McKay believed Everitt could swing from one end of the ground to the other – giving the Blues plenty of options.

“Andrejs has shown he can read the play well as a defender, and also has the ability to go forward and cause a bit of trouble,” McKay said.

This proved to be the case in 2015, with the versatile tall making his mark up forward. In only his second year at Carlton Everitt topped the Blues goal kicking, booting 31 majors as well as taking the most marks of any Carlton player – 132 for the season.

He was one of only four Blues to play every game this season, providing contests for his teammates all over the ground.

Round 4, 2015 marked a special milestone for ‘Dre’ – he played his 100th AFL game. It’s an accomplishment not lost on the 26-year-old, who at times thought the day might not have come.

“It’s a bit surreal in a way – it’s been nine years now. To play 100 games is good and I’ll definitely look back on it in the future and be proud,” Everitt said in the lead up to the match.

“I think this is the peak of my career and hopefully it keeps going.”

In a show of his determination and work ethic, Everitt has finished in the top 10 at Carlton’s best and fairest in his two seasons at the Blues.
