Here's everything you need to know about new Blue Liam Sumner, who has joined Carlton from Greater Western Sydney alongside Lachie Plowman, Jed Lamb, Andrew Phillips and pick No.8 in exchange for picks No.28, 77, 95 and Geelong's 2016 first-round draft pick:

Age: 22
Height: 179cm
Weight: 75kg
Recruited from: St Pauls – McKinnon (Vic)/Sandringham U18/Greater Western Sydney
Draft history: Selected at pick No.10 by Greater Western Sydney in the 2011 National Draft
Debut: Round 6, 2012 v Carlton
Position: Midfielder
Career games: 12
Goals: 9

2015 season: It was a luckless season for Sumner, who was unsighted at senior level because of injuries. The winger suffered a navicular foot stress fracture in pre-season, and despite making a strong return in June via the reserves, more foot soreness forced the winger to head in for surgery and cut his season prematurely.

Best AFL performance: Sumner’s energy and exhilaration was on show against Sydney in Round 1, 2013, where he collected a career-high 16 disposals, five tackles and two goals in a complete performance.

He said it: "Whether it's that deft touch to himself, or his ability to keep his feet - for which he is well-known - he is almost cat-like with his balance. Sitting in the coach's box you just sort of look at each other, shake your head and say, 'Wow, look at that'."

What we can expect: Blues fans can expect plenty of excitement from Sumner – a lightning-quick winger who kicks goals and breaks the lines.

The 22-year-old has modelled his game on Dale Thomas, who he’ll link up with at Carlton.

"We kind of play on the same strengths, I guess - both quick and agile, and he (Thomas) kind of plays the same positions," Sumner told the Herald Sun before he was drafted.

"But just his work rate, I look at that and admire it.

"I love taking the game on. I love the feel of it, getting past (opponents) and the excitement of the whole thing."
