The 30-year-old informed the Club’s playing group of his decision on Monday afternoon.

Just the fourth player in Carlton’s history to play 150 games after coming off the rookie list, Jamison made his debut in 2007 against Collingwood in Round 18 after being recruited from North Ballarat.

Jamison said he felt the time was right to hang up the boots after nearly 10 years at the Carlton Football Club.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time, the people and friends I’ve made over my journey at the Club will stay with me forever,” Jamison said.

“I’ve got a lot of confidence in the team and the path they are now on under Brendon Bolton and the rest of the coaching panel.

“It’s certainly an exciting time for the Carlton Football Club. I wish all my teammates and coaches the very best and hope to see success for them in the not too distant future.”

Head of Football Andrew McKay paid tribute to the veteran defender, who was a popular member of the Blues’ playing group.

“As a key member of the leadership group over the years, Michael has been a fantastic role model in his professionalism and dedication to the club.

“Throughout his career, he was the epitome of a team player and this is a trait he will certainly be remembered for.

“We sincerely wish Michael and his fiancée Georgie all the very best with their future endeavours.”

Jamison played his 150th and final senior game for the Blues in Round 8 in the Club’s thrilling two-point win over Port Adelaide at Etihad Stadium.
