Scans have confirmed Carlton defender Sam Rowe ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Sunday’s match against Fremantle at Domain Stadium.

Rowe will meet with specialists in the coming days to discuss his options.

Head of Football Andrew McKay said confirmation of the injury was unfortunate for the experienced tall.

“Sam is a strong character who has been through considerable adversity before and bounced back,” McKay said.

“Although he is clearly disappointed, we know that Sam will tackle his rehabilitation with the dedication and total professionalism that he has shown throughout his football career.”

A full injury update will be made available through www.carltonfc.com.au tomorrow afternoon.
