Blues bolster coaching stocks

Carlton Media  October 10, 2017 4:06 PM

Silvagni outlines Draft strategy As the NAB AFL Draft Combine enters its third day at Etihad Stadium, Grace Phillips caught up with List Management & Strategy manager Stephen Silvagni.

CARLTON has continued to strengthen its coaching stocks for 2018 with Brent Stanton and Jason Davenport to join the ranks as development coaches.

The recently retired Stanton played 255 games for Essendon between 2004 to 2017, with the veteran midfielder being renowned for his football nous, leadership abilities and work ethic.

Davenport joins Ikon Park from his stint as senior coach of the North Shore Seagulls in the Geelong Football League, with the 32-year-old having also spent time on AFL lists at both Geelong and Port Adelaide from 2006 through to 2011.

Head of Football Andrew McKay saying the Club was delighted to have secured the services of the incoming development coaches, who will also work closely with Northern Blues VFL coach Josh Fraser.

“We’re very pleased both Brent and Jason have joined our coaching ranks ahead of the 2018 season,” McKay said.

“They both have a considerable understanding of the demands of senior football and will add a different dimension to our improved development program. They will work closely with our young playing group and with our VFL program under coach Josh Fraser.”

Stanton and Davenport will commence their roles with the Blues for the start of the upcoming pre-season campaign.
