The rise of Flynn Young was something the man himself couldn’t even believe when he was recruited to Carlton in the 2025 mid-season draft.

Just 12 months earlier, Young was featuring for Newtown & Chilwell in the Geelong Football Club, yet ended 2024 as a VFL premiership player for Werribee. Fast forward to 2025’s culmination, Young had eight AFL games under his belt, kicking his first goal in his first win against Melbourne.

When asked after he was drafted about his mindset to never give up on his AFL dream, one quote from Young summed up the way he’s gone about his football in recent years: “nobody remembers the bloke who quits”.
