THE CARLTON Football Club will take another significant step towards further solidifying IKON Park as one of the country’s most elite, high-performance facilities.
From next week, construction will commence on a new, industry-leading, medical imaging centre in partnership with leading radiology provider, Imaging Associates. The facility will be integrated directly into the IKON Park complex to the left-side of the IKON Park main building, as you enter from Royal Parade.
Set to be a standout in Australian sport, this imaging centre will provide state-of-the-art scanning equipment services centred around – MRI, CT, X-Ray, Mammography, and Ultrasound – all on-site and immediately accessible to every Carlton player and the wider community.
The project is set for completion by mid-2025 and follows a recent $50 million redevelopment, that transformed IKON Park into one of Australia’s preeminent high-performance training and playing environments.
This latest project will not only see the Carlton Football Club’s home engrained as a quality environment for any high-performing athlete and the home of AFLW, but it will also become a true competitive advantage, on and off the field.
The medical imaging centre’s accessibility to the public will provide high-quality healthcare to the broader community, including a focus on both women's health and increased research into injury treatment and prevention.
“When the redevelopment of IKON Park commenced a number of years ago, the Club had ambitions for our home to support doing well on-field, as well as doing good in the community – this project will now see IKON Park expand on its offering of elite high-performance facilities for our athletes and create benefit for the wider community,” Carlton Chief Operating Officer Thomas Crookes said.
“Our players will have direct access to medical imaging, care and treatment – all within the bounds of their training facility. Our vision has been to ensure every Carlton player has everything required to maximise their careers – that is so important to us and we are about to see that vision reach a whole new level of reality now.
“The touchpoint with the community will see the centre provide the public with the same high level of care and insight that elite athletes receive from such sophisticated facilities.
“This project is the culmination of over two years of meticulous planning and preparation, we now look forward to construction commencing next week.”
