Carlton defender Michael Jamison has signed a new three-year deal, to keep him in the navy blue jumper until at least the end of 2017.

The 27-year-old was recruited to Carlton from North Ballarat in the 2006 Rookie Draft. He made his debut in Round 18, 2007 against Collingwood and has since played 118 AFL games.

A tall and dependable backman, Jamison was named Carlton’s Best Clubman in 2010 and has spent four years in the Blues’ leadership group. In 2014, Jamison was named Carlton’s deputy vice-captain.

Carlton’s GM – Football Operations Andrew McKay says he is pleased Jamison has decided to recommit to the Club.

“Michael is a leader on and off the field, and a much-respected member of our team,” McKay said.

“On the field Michael is a General for us in defence with a terrific work and training ethic, while off the field he shows strong voice as a Club spokesman who always puts his hand up to help.

“While Michael could have pursued free agency his decision to remain at Carlton reflects the belief he has in where we are heading.”

Jamison joins the growing list of Carlton players to re-sign with the Club this season, including Marc Murphy, Kade Simpson, Andrew Walker and Dylan Buckley.
