It's only been a few days since he was drafted and Clem Smith is already being compared to former Port Adelaide player Byron Pickett.

After conducting his own research, the dynamic small defender somewhat agrees.

"I had a look (at Pickett's highlights) on YouTube and there's definitely similarities there," Smith said.

"If they're (opponents) in my path, I don't mind (cleaning them up)."

The Western Australian, who was selected by the Blues at pick 60 during the 2014 NAB AFL Draft, says he looks forward to "playing anywhere".

"I think I can go all over the ground,” Smith said.

"Once I get the ball, I just like to run and carry. Once it's on the ground, I like to go in and bash and crash. I love taking the game on.

"To just get onto the track with all the boys – the first day's been great."
