Take a look at these lesser-known Carlton facts ahead of tonight's Brownlow Medal count:

- One of the best things to keep an eye on during the ‘night of nights’ are the players who register their first career Brownlow vote. From a Carlton perspective, it’d be a big surprise if Jack Silvagni doesn’t have his name called out. His outstanding performance in Round 20 against St Kilda should well and truly be enough to garner votes. Then, there’s Lachie Fogarty and Paddy Dow, who are plausible - if a little unlikely - chances to poll in the wins over Fremantle in Rounds 3 and 16 respectively.

- Harry McKay looks to be Carlton’s most likely when it comes to recording a maiden three-vote performance. The Blues had plenty of contributors against Fremantle in Round 3, but the Coleman Medal winner’s seven-goal haul will be difficult to ignore. The other current players to have polled three votes in Navy Blue are Marc Murphy, Sam Petrevski-Seton, Patrick Cripps, Liam Jones, Sam Walsh, Jack Martin, Nic Newman, David Cuningham, Charlie Curnow, Ed Curnow and Michael Gibbons.

- There’s little doubt that Sam Walsh will end the night as Carlton’s leading vote-getter: with veteran Marc Murphy departing this year, he’ll be in rare company. Only three players have led the Blues’ vote count since 2014, with only Cripps remaining on the list heading into next year. The others? Murphy, and great mate Bryce Gibbs.

- He may not poll as heavily as he did in 2018 and 2019, but how close can Cripps get to the century? He currently sits on 85 votes from his seven seasons at the elite level. From the performances in his eighth season, look for the co-captain to poll against Sydney (Round 11) and Fremantle (Round 3) in particular.

- Back on Walsh, could he complete an 11-year first in the Navy Blue? Not since Chris Judd in 2010 has a Carlton player recorded four consecutive three-vote performances. Walsh looks a certainty to poll the three votes in Rounds 15 (Adelaide) and 18 (Collingwood), was the best player on the ground in a loss to Geelong (Round 17) and kicked the match-winning goal in a strong showing against Fremantle (Round 16).

- When it comes to consecutive best-on-ground games, two Carlton players make up only three runs in history where players have recorded five straight three-vote showings. Judd stormed into the Brownlow lead when he polled the maximum 15 votes from Rounds 4-8 in 2010, going on to win with 30 votes. Justin Madden was the first in 1985, falling just one vote short of Brad Hardie after a perfect run in Rounds 14-18. The other was North Melbourne’s Brent Harvey in 2007.

Justin 'Harry' Madden is one of a select few players who have polled three Brownlow votes in five consecutive games.

- Cripps’ glittering Brownlow form across the 2018 and 2019 seasons can be best presented by the fact that he has polled in the most consecutive games of any Blue in history. Spanning the last game of the 2018 campaign and the opening six of the following seasons, Cripps polled in seven consecutive games, polling 16 votes in that time. He went one better than Greg Williams (1994) and Mark Naley (1987), who polled in six consecutive games.

- The Brownlow’s status as a midfielder’s award has rung true for Jacob Weitering, who has polled only a solitary vote in each of his last two seasons — even after storming to a John Nicholls Medal last season. His performances against Gold Coast (Round 4), Essendon (Round 7), the Western Bulldogs (Round 8) and Fremantle (Round 16) should see him eclipse that one-vote tally… should.
