CARLTON will get it second chance at Gold Coast this Saturday at Marvel Stadium.

With their two-point defeat to the Suns in Round 4 still front-of-mind, the Blues will be on the hunt for redemption in front of their home crowd.

Gold Coast will be just as eager to take home the four points as it looks to prove itself after a string of losses.

The Carlton faithful will no doubt be up and about as its team fights for back-to-back victories.

THE GAME IN FOCUS:

With the end of season 2019 drawing near, Carlton is starting to demonstrate a strong and free-flowing brand of football – another win would only solidify that.

Through their four wins, back-to-back victories have escaped the Blues: on three occasions, they’ve been denied by under a goal.

On the other side, it’s pride on the line as Gold Coast look to even the ledger to four wins for the year after a disappointing month.

Despite a strong start to their 2019 campaign, the Suns sit one rung below the Blues at the bottom of the ladder.

LAST TIME WE MET:

The Blues came devastatingly close to notching their first win of 2019 last time these two sides met in Round 4.

It was an arm-wrestle from the get-go at Metricon Stadium, with the clash between Gold Coast  and Carlton coming down to the dying seconds to be decided.

It was Carlton with the lead for most of the afternoon, as Sam Walsh - who earned a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination - recorded a breakout performance with 28 disposals and six tackles in only his fourth senior outing.

But it would be the Suns to finish with the four points, with Jack Bowes snapping an eleventh-hour goal to put his side in front.

BLUE FOCUS:

Bluebaggers will get their first glimpse of mid-season rookie recruit Josh Deluca in his game for his new club.

Deluca comes into the side as a late change for Paddy Dow, who will miss the clash through illness.

The Western Australian - who played four games for Fremantle in 2017 - has been impressive in his first three outings for the Northern Blues, averaging 21 disposals and five tackles.

Known for his work in the clinches and tireless work-rate around stoppages, supporters will be eager to see what the newest addition to the side can produce.

GET EXCITED ABOUT:

Blues supporters will be pleased to see the safe hands of Jacob Weitering return to Carlton’s backline this Saturday.

The fourth-year Blue makes his return to senior football after a week on the sidelines with a broken nose.

The Blues’ defensive unit has proven to be one of their strongest assets through 2019, with Weitering once again joining Liam Jones and Lachie Plowman down back.

BLUE VIEW:

After two wins away from home in the last month, the Victorian Bluebaggers will be a desperate to see a win on home turf.

If the last time these two sides met shows us anything, it’s that the Suns cannot be underestimated, and the Blues will have to be on their game for a full four quarters.

After last week’s four-quarter performance against Sydney, it needs to be more of the same from Carlton if it is to down a determined Gold Coast.
