CARLTON has made two changes for tomorrow night’s Round 2 opener against the Western Bulldogs.

It was confirmed earlier on Wednesday that Sam Walsh would make his 2022 return, having made a full recovery from ankle surgery.

Joining Walsh in the Navy Blue tomorrow night at Marvel Stadium is Lachie Fogarty.

It’s two like-for-like replacements for the Blues, with Adam Cerra and Jack Martin (AFL Health and Safety Protocols) both coming out of the line-up.

It’s likely that Walsh will join the likes of Patrick Cripps, George Hewett and Matthew Kennedy in Carlton’s on-ball rotation, while Fogarty will join a busy forward unit which impressed with its forward pressure last week.

Walsh returns on the back of a stunning 2021 campaign which yielded the 2021 John Nicholls Medal and All-Australian selection.

For Fogarty, his selection is reward for effort in recent weeks, having been named among the best players in all three VFL practice matches to date.

Unused medical substitute Tom Williamson also comes out of the line-up: one of the four emergencies in Matthew Cottrell, Paddy Dow, Jack Newnes and Lachie Plowman will assume the role this week.

Tomorrow night’s game kicks off from Marvel Stadium at 7:20pm AEDT.
