DOUBLE trouble.

In the annual fan-decided team which groups the best young talent in the game, Carlton midfielders Adam Cerra and Sam Walsh have been named in the AFL Players Association’s 22under22 side.

The duo are no strangers to the team, with this marking Cerra’s third nomination while Walsh becomes just the fourth AFL player - and first AFL Blue - to achieve four nominations.

Unsurprisingly, Walsh - who was named as ruck rover and was among the most prominently voted players - was named as vice captain. He was also named in the All-Australian squad of 44 on Monday, with the final team to be announced on Wednesday.

It was another consistent season from the Carlton midfield gun, averaging over 32 disposals per game (a career-high tally) while amassing 40 possessions on two occasions. He didn’t drop below 25 disposals once from his 20 games of senior football.

Cerra settled in seamlessly at his new home after arriving from Fremantle, playing 18 games for the season and earning a reputation as a key midfield cog in Michael Voss’ side.

Cerra’s last game for the season was arguably his best, contributing 27 disposals and two classy goals in the final round clash with Collingwood. This selection marks his third consecutive inclusion in the 22under22 side.
