Walker & Kennedy Commit to 2009
Andrew Walker & Josh Kennedy have both agreed to two-year deals
The Carlton Football Club is pleased to announce that Andrew Walker and Josh Kennedy have both agreed to two-year deals that will see them continue their careers at Carlton until the end of the 2009 season.
“We are delighted to secure the services of Andrew and Josh for a further two seasons. They are important young players, one a midfielder and the other a key position forward, who will play major roles in the long-term future of the Carlton Football Club,” CEO Greg Swann said.
Andrew Walker 21, was recruited to Carlton via the 2003 National Draft as a priority selection, No.2 overall, from Echuca via the Bendigo U18's. A Rising Star nominee in his first AFL Game, (Round 5, 2004) Andrew has played 66 games for Carlton and was a member of Carlton’s 2005 and 2007 pre-season premiership teams.
"It’s an exciting time to be involved with the club. We have been through the hard times and we all want to be part of the good times that we know aren’t too far away. I am looking forward to a successful future and I really want to be a member of Carlton’s next premiership team," Andrew Walker said.
Josh Kennedy 19, was Carlton’s 1st round selection, No. 4 overall, in the 2005 National Draft. Kennedy made his AFL debut in Round 6, 2006 against Collingwood at the MCG and has played 17 games for Carlton.
“I am delighted to have re-signed with Carlton, the club has shown faith in me and I want to repay its faith. As a group we see a real future for team success and together we want to be part of it,” Josh Kennedy said.
