IT’S GOOD to be back.

After an important off-season to reflect, regroup and recover from a demanding 2022 campaign, Carlton’s first to fourth-year players will next week return to pre-season training, with senior players not far behind.

The hard work will begin again at IKON Park and for Senior Coach Michael Voss, there’s no limit on what can be achieved.

“Why put a limit or a label on what the end result might be?” Voss said in an update to members ahead of the pre-season’s official commencement.

“There is a clean slate, a clear mindset and a real belief that if we put in the work now, we will earn the right to achieve success.”

While not shying away from the hurt of last season’s conclusion, focus shifts to the now, with a firm belief that putting in the work will put the Club in a position to be successful.

“We know that every moment matters for us as a football club and if we get the now right, the end result will take care of itself.

“We got so much right as a football club [last season] – we just didn’t finish the way we wanted. That ending hurt and we don’t shy away from that: it’s part of the story of what we are building.”

After experiencing great transformation throughout the 2022 season, the imminent pre-season is now about raising the bar.

“The 2022 season provided us with a strong platform to build on. Now, we go to another level.”

On field, there will be a focus on building the Blues’ contest work and transition, while off it the emphasis remains on building a culture based on selflessness and being a good teammate.

“A strong connection to each other is a trademark our playing group is beginning to wear with pride,” he said.

“There is a growing understanding that you put in the hard work for your teammates, not just for yourself.”

That connection between players is not the only powerful bond Voss has seen firsthand since stepping through the doors at IKON Park in September of last year.

He has also reflected on the significance of the Navy Blue faithful.

“No other crowd can generate the emotion, the passion and the sheer energy like a Carlton home crowd.

“You give us an edge that no other football club has.”

With the momentum of the fans, an accountability to make one another better and an incredible hunger to achieve success together, the final message is simple.

“It’s time to get busy getting better. Let’s get to work.”
