PRE-SEASON camp formalities wrapped up today, with a gruelling session on the track for the playing group.

Coleman Medallist - and birthday boy - Charlie Curnow answered some burning questions that fans had for him.

Here’s what he had to say.

What is the goal for 2023?

“I’d love to play another 23-game season: I want to be consistent and back it up and it starts now in pre-season.”

What is the best way to annoy Ed Curnow?

He hates questions: if you ask him too many questions, he gets pretty grumpy – that’s an easy way to get to him.

Why did you decide to play football?

“I was growing up playing footy but when Ed got drafted to Adelaide, I loved watching him play.

“When I was younger, I loved watching him play school footy at Geelong College so [it was great] seeing him progress in getting drafted. All my other siblings played sports at a high level so I sort of enjoyed that side of the pressure.”

Who was your football inspiration (besides Ed)?

“I loved watching Buddy as a kid – watching him run down the wing and kick big goals.”

Who’s looking the best on the track this pre-season?

“I’m loving the small forwards at the moment: ‘Owies’, ‘Durds’ and ‘Mots’.”

What were your favourite games to play in?

“Even though we didn’t get the win, the last two games – to be involved with them, they were important games. I enjoy travelling with the boys and getting away so the interstate win over GWS as well.”

Is there any significance to the No.30 guernsey?

“It was just handed down to me, there’s not too much significance. I loved watching Jarryd Waite jump around for marks and kick goals.”

What advice do you have for emerging key forwards?

“Enjoy it, do it your way, don’t let other people change the way you want to play, just focus on your skillset.”

Who lifts more: you or Harry McKay?

“Harry easy: he’s got me big time.”

Who is the best kick to lead to?

“Adam Cerra.”

How did you handle the tough times at the Club?

“They were tough years but also really enjoyable. When we did have some rough patches - I’m really lucky with a big family - we all grew up down the coast and that was a bit of a home base to go back to on the weekends. They always keep me at a good pace.”
