CARLTON will aim to rebound from last weekend’s loss against Melbourne University when it takes on Collingwood this Sunday.

The game kicks off ‪at 11am‬ with Victoria Park playing host to the clash between the traditional rivals.

Last time they met:

The Blues went down in a tight contest against Collingwood at RAMS Arena by 17 points.

Sarah Hosking was adjudged best on ground by coach Shannon McFerran, whilst co-captain Natalie Plane also found plenty of the football and was one of the side’s best.

Player to watch: Alison Downie

Downie was one of Carlton’s best performers in her first VFLW game of the season against Melbourne University.

She won 23 hitouts in a dominant display, while she also collected 17 disposals and kicked one of Carlton’s five goals in an impressive all-round performance.

Opposition to watch: Sophie Alexander

Alexander has proven to be a match-winner for the top-of-the-table Pies this season.

She is fresh from kicking the game-winning goal after the siren that handed Collingwood a thrilling four-point win over Richmond.

When she last faced Carlton, she was the match-winner in that game too, kicking two last-quarter goals to give Collingwood the lead and ultimately the win.

Saunders’ say:

“Our expectations for Collingwood are simple,” VFLW assistant coach Kerry Saunders said.

“We need to obviously prepare better than we did for Melbourne Uni and just be ready from the start of the first quarter because that was our main concern last week.

“We let teams have the first quarter and then we try and catch up and we can’t do that.”
