WITH THE Carlton Football Club now having qualified for its first preliminary final appearance since 2000, we would like to inform our fans of key information and procedures in place for eligible members to access a ticket to the 2023 AFL Grand Final, should the Blues participate.

As the Club dares to dream beyond this weekend’s game against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Saturday 23 September at 5:15pm, eligible 2023 Carlton members will have the opportunity to register into the AFL Grand Final ballot. It is important to note that priority access registrations will apply, and this will be based on 2023 membership types.

The Grand Final ballot will take place on Wednesday 20 September.

While the Club would like to provide access to all 95,277 of its valued members - as well as the hundreds of thousands of Blues fans - the competing teams’ Grand Final ticketing allocation from the AFL is 17,000 for each competing club.

As such, the Club will apply the following priority categories for members (listed below) to access Grand Final tickets. The Club acknowledges that unfortunately not all members will be able to secure tickets due to the extensive demand and limited tickets that are available.

In the event the Blues participate in the AFL Grand Final and acknowledging ticketing shortages, the Club will host a live site at IKON Park to ensure all Carlton fans have the opportunity to share in a unique experience supporting our club together. Details of the live site will be promoted from Tuesday 26 September, should Carlton progress to the AFL Grand Final.

GRAND FINAL FAQs

When is the Carlton Grand Final ballot?

Carlton’s Grand Final ballot will take place on Wednesday 20 September

I am a member, do I have access to the Grand Final ballot?

Carlton has three membership priority groups when it comes to Grand Final ticket access and they will be prioritised in the Grand Final ballot. The groups are referenced below;

  • Priority 1
  • Priority 2
  • Priority 3

Should Carlton make the AFL Grand Final, the allocation for Priority 1 members will be balloted first. Once the Priority 1 ballot is complete, the Priority 2 ballot will commence. If tickets remain at the conclusion of the Priority 2 ballot, the Priority 3 ballot will commence.

The Club will email all eligible members within the three priority groups on Monday 18 September with everything they need to know.

What priority group do I fall into?

PRIORITY 1 – GUARANTEED*

Priority 1 membership types are:

  • Legends Lounge
  • Carltonians Coterie
  • Carltonian Bays 2/2
  • Carltonian Bays 2/3
  • Captains Club Reserved
  • Members Zone with Captains Club
  • MCC with Captains Club
  • Marvel Stadium upgrade with Captains Club
  • Captains Club add-on members
  • 50+ year consecutive members who do not have a Grand Final guarantee

Members with Priority 1 access to the AFL Grand Final Ballot are entitled to register for guaranteed access to purchase a ticket to the 2023 Toyota AFL Grand Final, should Carlton be a participating team, as long as you enter the ballot during your priority time.

Whilst Priority 1 members who have successfully registered are guaranteed access to purchase a ticket, please keep in mind that members are not able to select the location or price category of their allocated seat(s). This is where the ballot element comes into play.

PRIORITY 2 GROUP – BALLOT

Membership types:

  • 25-49 year consecutive members that do not have a Grand Final guarantee.

PRIORITY 3 GROUP – BALLOT

Membership types:

  • 10-24 year consecutive members that do not have a Grand Final guarantee.

The Club acknowledges the disappointment that members who do not fall into any of the above priority groups will face, given their ineligibility for the Grand Final ballot.

While there will be tens of thousands of members in Priority 3, the Club acknowledges that not every member will be able to secure a ticket. Demand will exceed supply. As such, we strongly encourage eligible members in each priority group to select Option 1 - 'I will accept the best available ticket – including Standing Room' at the time of registering to provide the best chance of securing a ticket.

At the time of registration, members can elect not to receive Standing Room ticket(s), however, if all members in your group are able to stand for the duration of the day, we strongly recommend all members select Option 1 – ‘I will accept the best available ticket – including Standing Room’ at the time of registering, as if you elect not to receive a Standing Room ticket at time of registration you will reduce your chance of being successful in obtaining a Grand Final ticket.

What are the priority times to secure tickets for the Carlton Grand Final ballot?

All priority members will be able to secure tickets for the Carlton Grand Final ballot on Wednesday 20 September. Please take note however that timings for each Priority will be different and these timings are outlined below;

Priority 1 group: 8am – 12pm AEST (Link to come)
Priority 2 group: 1pm – 4pm AEST (Link to come)
Priority 3 group: 5pm – 8pm AEST (Link to come)

Please note: it does not matter what time you register during the designated registration window for each priority as all registrations will be randomised to determine the order in which tickets are allocated.

Where do I need to go to enter the ballot?

The Carlton Grand Final ballot will be completed via Ticketek. The Club will provide this link to eligible members on the afternoon of Tuesday 19 September.

How do I enter the ballot?

Members requiring accessible seating will need a Grand Final Accessible Registration barcode. This is different to your usual barcode for the 2023 season and will be emailed to all accessible seating members on Monday 18 September.

I want to sit with other members, how can I do that?

Members who wish to attend together must register in a group by entering all membership barcode numbers in a single transaction via Ticketek, using one credit/debit card. A limit of eight (8) barcodes per transaction applies.

I want to sit with members in a different priority group. What do I do?

Members wishing to attend together with access to different priority groups are required to register in the timeframe allocated to the member with the lower priority. For example, a Priority 1 member who wishes to sit with a Priority 2 member must forgo their Priority 1 entitlement and register in the Priority 2 window. However, we do not recommend Priority 1 members take this risk, as they will ultimately forgo their guaranteed access.

I require accessible seating, do I need to do anything specifically to access accessible seating?

Members eligible for the Grand Final ballot who require accessible seating will need a Grand Final Accessible Registration barcode. This is different to your usual barcode for the 2023 season and will be emailed to all accessible seating members on Monday 18 September. If members who are registering in your group have not received a Grand Final Accessible Registration barcode, they can contact the Club via email at membership@carltonfc.com.au or phone on 1300 227 586 no later than 12pm Tuesday 19 September to obtain their barcode.

How do I know where my seat will be at the AFL Grand Final?

Tickets will be allocated via ballot on a next best available basis and therefore members may receive either Category 1-7 reserved seat, a Restricted View seat or Standing Room ticket. We strongly encourage members to select option 1 - 'I will accept the best available ticket - including standing room' at the time of registering so you have the best chance of securing a ticket.

How much will my Grand Final ticket cost?

With tickets being allocated via ballot on a next best available basis, members may receive either Category 1-7 reserved seat, a Restricted View seat or Standing Room ticket. Pricing ranges from $155 - $448 and are available in adult and concession categories.

Successful members’ credit cards will be charged any time from the evening of Saturday 23 September, up to 48 hours post the Club’s preliminary final game against the Brisbane Lions. Members will then be emailed confirmation of their purchase along with information on how to access their tickets via their Ticketek account.

The credit card holder is required to have sufficient funds in their account from Saturday 23 September to potentially pay for Category 1 tickets for all members registered in the transaction.
