LACHIE Young will wear the Navy Blue in 2024 after signing with the Carlton Reserves.

Young brings a wealth of knowledge to a young Blues outfit, having played 47 AFL games across five years with the Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne.

Taken by the Dogs with pick No.6 overall in the 2018 AFL Rookie Draft, Young featured in eight games for the Dogs before moving across to North in 2021, where he played 39 matches. His most recent appearance in the AFL was North’s Round 20 match against the West Coast Eagles.

At 189 centimetres tall, the defender has strong aerial ability and a knack for intercept marking, while the dangerous defender also has the speed and work rate to push up to a wing.

Carlton VFL Coach Luke Power said Young’s versatility across the field will prove to be a great asset to the Blues.

“Lachie brings a great playing capability to our side; his athleticism allows him to play both on the wing and across the back line, which will add great depth to our team,” Power said.

“Not only is Lachie a great footballer, he’s also a quality character. Off-field he is a great person and with his AFL experience he will prove to be an excellent leader to our playing group, especially the younger players.

“We are excited that Lachie has chosen to sign with Carlton. It is a great testament to the quality program and facilities we offer here at the Blues: I am sure he will enjoy his time here.”
