TOM Phillips has signed with the Carlton Reserves for the 2024 season.

Drafted to Collingwood in 2016, the midfielder locked down a position on the wing, playing 89 games across five seasons. He played a central role for the Pies particularly in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, where he featured in the 2018 AFL Grand Final.

He then made his way over to Hawthorn at the end of the 2020 season via the trade period, playing every game in his first season at the Hawks.

With 115 AFL games under his belt, Phillips now joins the Carlton Reserves after featuring for Essendon’s VFL side in 2023, where he played all 18 matches for the season.

Known for his adaptability on the field, the 186cm midfielder has the running capacity to feature all day on the wing, while he can also sneak forward and hit the scoreboard: he averaged a goal every two games throughout his AFL career.

Senior Coach of the Carlton Reserves Luke Power said he was excited to have an experienced player commit for the upcoming season.

“Tom brings a wealth of experience to our midfield group and with a high level of AFL games, he has already naturally adapted to the standards we uphold as a Club,” Power said.

“He has great football nous and we’ve seen the quality he possessed at AFL level. He can play a number of roles for the team, whether that’s on the wing or up forward, which further bolsters the depth in our side.

“Tom has plenty of quality football left ahead of him and we can't wait to see him run out in the Navy Blue.”
