“I THINK our playing list is going to get better next year regardless.”

Carlton senior coach David Teague is confident in the growth of his existing list as the Club switches its focus to recruiting in the off-season.

Weeks out from his appointment to the role, Teague has focused his attention towards the list management as the Blues as the Blues turn their attentions towards 2020.

Teague provided an insight into Carlton’s list on RSN’s Inner Sanctum on Thursday morning.

“A lot of critical decisions are made at this time of year with your players, your staff, recruiting, trading,” Teague said.

“Going through right now list management, you always have an opinion and as an assistant you might watch certain vision.

“But now you’re in the thrust of it, you’re looking at the decisions and how it impacts your draft selections and where the recruiters are seeing the play and the list is at.”

While Teague is investing the time in Carlton’s recruiting alongside the list management team, he was bullish on the current position of the list.

Speaking on the Blues’ developing young list, the recently appointed coach is confident growth in the existing players will pay dividends in 2020.

“If we don’t add anyone – which hopefully we will – but if we don’t add anyone, we just get the growth,” he said.

“We get Sam Docherty back, we get a full season out of Charlie Curnow, we get the growth out of Harry [McKay], Mitch McGovern, Jacob Weitering.

“We’ve got a lot of guys that if just those guys develop, we’re going to be a better side.”
