WORK to do.

A clinical performance by North Melbourne at Arden Street Oval was too strong for Carlton on Good Friday.

This game was poised as a challenge from the first bounce, but North Melbourne definitely had the upper hand, kicking a goal in every term whilst holding Calton goalless until the third quarter.

Carlton was able to get the ball inside 50 (17 inside 50s), but they weren’t able to capitalise on the scoreboard.

The Roos opened their account quickly with Nyakoat Dojiok scoring her first major in the first term. She continued to be their sole goal scorer for the first three quarters before a stint in the ruck. Dojiok was a challenge for the Blues' defenders as she was able to sneak through the window and get into the open space.

Jemma Stokes (17 hitouts and three marks) shone for the Blues early, looking over the contest and getting the ball into a safe zone. Her work rate provided the energy Carlton needed to keep going and they did just that.

Keeley Sherar (15 disposals and seven clearances), Maddie Guerin (19 disposals, three tackles and three clearances) and Steph Demeo (13 disposals) stepped up in defence and handled the pressure North Melbourne were putting on early. Their combined tackling efforts kept North Melbourne fighting but were eventually overrun on the scoreboard.

The Blues left it all out in the contest, but the Roos’ midfielders - particularly Maddie Di Cosmo (18 tackles, 18 disposals and four clearances) - put the foot down offensively and defensively.

The change in ball speed in the second field changed the momentum for the Blues to line up right in front of goal. Sophie McCarthy kicked the Blues first - and only - major in the third term to relieve some pressure on the scoreboard.

North return fire in the final term, sealing the Good Friday clash at Arden Street with a 21-point victory.
