THE CARLTON Football Club is proud to announce the 10th annual AFL Carlton Respects game has been locked in for the Blues’ Round 19 fixture against Melbourne.
A long-standing initiative, Carlton Respects promotes gender equality, striving for a future free of violence.
The players will again wear orange socks and a dedicated guernsey to raise awareness of the social cause.
Orange is the international colour to raise awareness and take action to end violence against women and girls.
Last year, Carlton Respects received an overwhelming amount of support, raising over $400,000 for related initiatives, such as the Road for Respects schools' program which engages and inspires kids to build skills that will play a vital role for building healthy future relationships. The program reached over 4,000 students in 2024 and the Club is aiming to reach 6,000 students in 2025.
With over 75,000 fans packing out the MCG in 2024, this year's game will take place in the last week of the school holidays, and Bluebaggers of all ages are encouraged to attend and play their part in contributing towards a respectful and brighter future.
Two in five women have experienced physical violence since the age of 15, and in 2024, one woman every six days lost her life to family or domestic violence in Australia.
Carlton CEO Brian Cook said Carlton wants to promote a culture built around respect for the next generation.
“As a Club we believe the only acceptable rate of violence is zero and the annual Carlton Respects game allows us to create discussions about gender equality and continue to raise awareness and funds to address these issues,” Cook said.
“We understand the platform and voice we have and want to use it for good. This is an important game in our fixture, and we encourage all our Carlton family to mark it in their calendars and fill the ‘G in support of our side and a respectful and brighter future.”
There are plenty of ways to show your support and collectively we can make a difference.
