AFL injury news: Kemp sidelined for season
Brodie Kemp will miss the remainder of 2025 after rupturing his Achilles tendon.
The Carlton Football Club can confirm forward Brodie Kemp will miss the remainder of the 2025 season after rupturing his Achilles tendon.
The injury occurred in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s win over West Coast, with the 23-year-old set to undergo surgery before commencing his recovery.
“Brodie had put in a mountain of work over the summer too earn is place in the side to start the season, so for him to miss the remainder of the year is such bad luck and we are all feeling for him right now,” Carlton General Manager of Football Brad Lloyd said.
“Brodie really embraced his new role up forward, which is a testament to his team-first mindset and his commitment to getting the best out of himself.
“We will all get around Brodie from here on and support him during his rehabilitation.”
Brodie Kemp (Achilles)
- Recovery phase - Availability: Ruled out for the remainder of the 2025 season - Confirmation he experienced a ruptured Achilles in the fourth quarter of the Round 5 win over West Coast
Harry McKay (concussion)
- Modified program - Availability: Rounds 7-8 - Entered concussion protocols following collision during first quarter of Saturday’s win over West Coast
Alex Cincotta (hip)
- Modified program - Availability: Rounds 9-10 - Recommencing skills training with the group, with an aim to return in the next month
Orazio Fantasia (calf)
- Modified program - Availability: To be further assessed in Round 9 - Continuing to build up his training loads, with his return to play timeline to be further assessed in Round 9
Recovery phase. Availability: TBC.
Discharged from hospital: will continue recovery before return-to-play timeline becomes clearer in a month. (Update: 28 April)
Suffered a dislocated shoulder in the VFL, with the Club determining surgery is required. Rob will undergo surgery before commencing his rehabilitation towards a full recovery. Availability: Season (Update: 5 May)
