COREY Durdin never lost belief.

And neither did his teammates.

With the team at 0-4 and Durdin overcoming an ankle injury from the pre-season, it’s fair to say it would’ve been easy to get caught up in the negative commentary. But Durdin and the Blues went to work.

It hasn’t been the easiest of few years for Durdin, who - after missing just two games in Michael Voss’ first season - has lacked continuity in his body over the last few years.

Now back fit and playing alongside great mate Jesse Motlop (which the two haven’t been able to do all that often), Durdin said belief really is a powerful thing.

“It’s pretty easy to get distracted by things: there are a lot of distractions outside of what we value. The main thing that was driven by our leaders and the coaching staff across the board was making sure we stick to what we value,” Durdin told SEN SA.

“We’ve done that really well. Sometimes it’s not always going to show up straight away, but we always had that commitment to getting better and going after what we value - which is our defence, plus our contest and our pressure.

“Once we got a couple of wins on the board, to go out and beat Geelong on Sunday was that real ‘belief’ win against a side that the competition would say is a top-four contender.”

Ahead of this week’s trip to his native South Australia, Durdin made his return to the line-up for Gather Round at the same venue, kicking four goals and kickstarting a run of three straight games in the senior side where the Blues have clicked offensively.

Continuing to hold oppositions to low scores in the process, Durdin - who was clearly looking forward to playing in front of an Adelaide Oval crowd once again - said the Blues would leave no stone unturned to keep a good thing going.

“The way we’ve went about it is continuing to believe in what we’re doing. Throughout that time, the way we’ve been defending has always been pretty good: it’s nice to get a few wins on the board now, even though the first part of the season wasn’t going as well as we would’ve liked.

“Now to have a few wins on the board, we’re looking forward to continue the way we’re going.

“I’ve got a fair few coming to the game - looking forward to it.”
