THE CARLTON Football Club is pleased to confirm that key defender Harriet Cordner has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping her in the Navy Blue until at least the end of 2026.

Fresh off a stellar season in which she earned a place in the 2024 AFLW All-Australian squad, Cordner proved to be a cornerstone of the Blues’ backline, putting out a number of outstanding performances.

Cordner has not missed a match since moving to IKON Park from Punt Road at the start of 2023, with her consistency, strength and intercept ability featuring as key standouts of her game.

Named in Carlton's 2025 leadership group, Cordner will remain a key figure in the backline this season in the absence of Kerryn Peterson (pregnancy).

Brought to the Blues for her maturity and professionalism, the 32-year-old has more than delivered in that regard. She has continued this by reporting back for the start of pre-season in terrific condition, even carrying her commitment over on a trip to Bali, where she created a 6am run club in as part of her 'holiday'.

Head of AFLW Ash Naulty said Cordner is a hard-working player who elevates everyone around her.

“Harriet is a true professional and brings a level of composure and experience that’s invaluable to our group,” Naulty said.

“Off the field, she is a great mentor to our younger players and sets the standard in everything she does. On-field, she plays a crucial role in our defensive structure, leading by example in how she prepares and competes.

“We’re thrilled to have her on board for the next two seasons as we continue to build towards taking our next, significant step as a program.”
