RECENTLY retired Blue Jess Dal Pos has joined the Club’s coaching ranks in a multi-faceted role.

Dal Pos has been appointed as an assistant coach (forwards) for the Club’s AFLW side – she will also spend time as a development coach across the AFL and VFL programs.

The 31-year-old’s elevation is part of the AFL’s Women’s Coaching Acceleration Program, which was launched in 2021 to help fast-track the development of women in coaching and assist in their progression to senior coaching roles across both AFL and AFLW programs.

Since the AFLW's inception, the 31-year-old featured in every season, playing 69 games across nine seasons with both GWS and Carlton, before retiring at the end of 2024.

After serving as co-vice captain in 2022 and 2023, Dal Pos transitioned from the leadership group to the coaching team in 2024, featuring as a playing-coach, strengthening the connection between coaches and players.

Earning her maiden All-Australian selection in her first season at the AFLW level, Dal Pos has been a pioneer of the game from the very beginning and will continue this legacy with her new role in coaching.

Head of Football Brad Lloyd said the Club was excited by the opportunity for Dal Pos to grow and develop as a coach.

“Jess has a wealth of experience, strong leadership qualities and her addition to the coaching group will add to the synergy across all four of our football programs which is a significant asset,” Lloyd said.

“In a one-club approach, Jess will take responsibility in assisting with the development of the VFL and AFL programs, as well as taking on an assistant coaching role, looking after the forward line in our AFLW program.

“We look forward to seeing Jess make the most of this opportunity and growing into her role throughout the football department.”
