"Our team has been fantastic."

Carlton CEO Graham Wright was full of praise for the AFLW Blues' start to the 2025 season.

Coming into Round 5, the side has won three out of their four games, landing them fifth position on the ladder thus far.

The team has achieved a series of milestones in just four weeks, including the debut of four new AFLW players, Keeley Sherar’s spectacular Round 3 performance which secured a Goal of the Year nomination, and Sophie McKay’s recognition as the Round 4 Telstra AFLW Rising Star nominee.

Wright spoke to Carlton Media on his thoughts on the season so far.

"They've started the year really well, even against Hawthorn where we lost that game by eight points, we were still right in the game with three or four minutes to go, so their performance across the board has been fantastic." he said

The Blues' fast paced brand of footy has been on full display in the opening stages of the season.

"Really exciting, exciting ball movement, speed, being able to and wanting to take risky kicks through the middle of the ground, but bringing the ball back in and moving it quickly is really exciting to see," Wright said.

The Carlton AFLW side has received an overwhelming amount of support from the Carlton fans, especially coming into the season opener at IKON Park, which attracted a crowd of 8,042.

The team has been able to share many memorable moments with fans with home games being held at IKON Park, a special space for so many in the Carlton community.

"I think it's fantastic, we've had great support from members and fans alike, we've had great attendances at both our games so far, and we've got another home game this weekend and another three after that," Wright said.

"Great support for our W team and we look forward to the rest of the year, and we've got another eight games to go, so hopefully there's something on the end of it."
