The Carlton Football Club is proud to unveil its Pride Guernsey which will be worn in the Rounds 9 and 10 matches against Sydney and St Kilda respectively.
Carlton's pride guernsey was again designed by proud queer Vietnamese Illustrator and Graphic Designer Zo Lam, who designed it to encapsulates the values at the heart of football.
“Integrity and respect is at the heart of football.” Lam said.
“We move together and alongside each other, championing support for ourselves and our team.
“The colours of the progress pride flag ripple beside one another on the guernsey to amplify the power of unity in the LGBTQIA+ community in football.”
Carlton AFLW players, alongside the Carlton Pride Group, took to The Keys in Preston to launch the guernsey.
The opportunity to come together in an inclusive and community-driven atmosphere, reflects the true reach and connection of the Club, well beyond the field and match-days and into everyday life, community spaces, and social culture.
Carlton CEO Graham Wright said the Club is proud to once again take part in Pride Round.
“As a united, inclusive and values-led club, we strive to create a community where people feel they belong.” Wright said.
“This commitment is reinforced through our Belong Together I,D,E&B plan, which highlights the importance of all Carlton people feeling valued and a part of our club.
“Pride Round continues to play a valuable role in this, and the sense of belonging it fosters is very much aligned to the environment and experience we continue to create at our match-days and within our community more broadly.”
Following the Pride Round game against St Kilda, the Carlton Football Club will be auctioning off the player-worn guernseys, with proceeds going to Carlton Pride and Minus18.
The AFLW pride guernsey is available to shop now in store at the Carlton Shop or online.
