Recognised for their outstanding seasons in Navy Blue, two emerging stars have been named in the final 22under22 team.

After impressive first years at IKON Park, both Poppy Scholz and Sophie McKay have wowed spectators and selectors with their excitement factor and star talent at just 18 and 19 years old respectively.

The pair were taken in last year's AFLW draft, Scholz taken at pick No.6 and McKay at No.17.

Scholz has immediately impressed in the forward line, kicking 10 goals in 2025 so far, and receiving a Rising Star nomination in Round 6 this year.

The young gun also proved she can rise to any occasion, kicking an incredible goal from outside 50 in Carlton's 41-point elimination final victory over West Coast.

Not just influential on the scoreboard, Scholz's ability to attack a contest - taking 33 contested marks so far in her debut season - has boosted her side's efficiency inside 50 in 2025, as she becomes one to watch over the next few years.

Also monumental in her first season, McKay has come into her own in the forward line, having kicked 14 goals so far in 2025, along with providing some iconic uplifting moments and celebrations for her side. At 19 years of age, McKay sits just one goal behind Carlton's leading goal kicker, Tara Bohanna (15).

McKay's speed around the ball and clean ball usage has held her in good stead in 2025, having also notched up a Rising Star nomination in Round 4.

Known to excite, McKay booted two goals in last weekend's elimination final along with 19 disposals and four tackles - just a hint at what Carlton fans can look forward to when the No.55 hits the big stage.

Both Scholz and McKay will be ones to watch in the coming years in the Navy Blue, particularly as they prepare for their first semi final feature this Saturday night against Hawthorn.
