Carlton ruckman Marc Pittonet is recovering after experiencing a throat injury at training.
Pittonet suffered a knock to the throat during a training drill on Friday and after developing considerable discomfort, was transferred to hospital later that day for observation, where it was revealed he had suffered a fractured larynx.
The 29-year-old’s symptoms have improved each day since Friday, with specialists confirming he does not require surgery.
Pittonet returned home on Sunday and is expected to make a full recovery in the coming weeks, before integrating back into training after the Christmas break.
“Thankfully Marc is comfortable now and improving every day, having received the care he needs,” Carlton General Manager of Football Chris Davies said.
“Given the timing of the injury, much of Marc's recovery will take place during the upcoming Christmas break.
“We then expect him to begin integrating back into training in January, having already given himself a great foundation to build into next year, thanks to the significant work he has already put in over the off-season and the first part of pre-season.”
