Carlton defender Nic Newman has been charged with striking following an incident during Wednesday’s VFL practice match against Geelong.

The incident was graded as careless conduct, high contact and high impact, which carries with it a two-game sanction.

Newman will be available for selection for the Club's Round 3 AFL game against Melbourne.
