CARLTON produced a strong four-quarter performance to defeat Tasmania by 25 points.
Overcoming an early arm wrestle and a mid-game surge from the Devils to secure the win, the Blues led from the early stages of the second term to kick away in the 14.9 (93) to 9.14 (68) win.

The opening term was a tight, contested affair, with much of the play locked between the arcs and inside Tasmania’s forward 50 - despite the early pressure, Carlton’s defence stood tall under siege.
Flynn Riley had the Blues’ first opportunity after earning a high contact free kick but couldn’t convert, while Jack Ison also went close after a slick end-to-end passage. Carlton began to gain control as the quarter progressed but struggled to make it count on the scoreboard, managing just four early behinds.
The Blues’ transition game looked to be in a good place despite the lack of scoreboard return, with Billy Wilson (12 disposals) and Harry Charleson (10 disposals) leading the way.
Carlton found its rhythm in the second term. Liam Farrar kicked his first goal in Navy Blue to level the scores early, before a composed finish from Darcy Tucker - set up by club debutant Jaiden Magor - gave the Blues the lead.
The momentum continued as Campbell Chesser finished off another fluent passage, while Blake Acres and Logan Prout added goals to stretch the margin to 16 points by half time.
The third term saw momentum swing dramatically. Wade Derksen - who played the whole game up forward - and Lachie Fogarty extended Carlton’s lead beyond four goals, but Tasmania responded with four consecutive goals to cut the margin to just two points.
With the game on the line, Jack Ison stepped up, kicking three goals in quick succession – the last from a brilliant Jordan Boyd assist - to wrestle back control.
The Blues’ late burst steadied the ship, pushing the lead back out to 21 points at the final change.
Tasmania came hard early in the final quarter, locking the ball in their forward half and reducing the margin to 13 points.
However, Carlton responded through Derksen, who converted after a strong entry from Cooper Vickery, before Jed Rule added his first goal for the Blues.
Fogarty and Ison added further majors as the Blues maintained control despite the Devils’ persistence late, eventually running out 25-point winners in a hard-fought contest.
Billy Wilson was outstanding with 40 disposals, while George Hewett (39) and Harry Charleson (27) provided consistent support through the midfield and half-back respectively.
Flynn Riley was dominant in the ruck with 39 hitouts to go with 19 disposals, while Campbell Chesser (27 disposals), Jordan Boyd (26) and Adam Saad (24) were also key contributors.
Up forward, Jack Ison led the way with four goals, while Wade Derksen added two.
Carlton’s win was slightly soured by injuries to Rob Monahan (shoulder) and Darcy Tucker (calf), which will be assessed in the coming days.
